Samsung Galaxy Note 8 India launch on September 12. All You need to Know

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will launch in India on September 12. The electronics major will bring the new flagship smartphone in India on the same day of the global launch of Apple iPhone 8. Now that's what we call a WAR. Samsung has sent out invites for a launch event in India. Samsung, in the invite, says ‘Do Bigger things’ and says it is its next big innovation. It is likely that we will see the Galaxy Note 8.

Meanwhile, Apple is hosting a grand event in its Apple Park campus in Cupertino. It has been speculated that the company will launch the new iPhone, perhaps called the iPhone 8 or iPhone X. Apple may also unveil new variants of the iPhone 7. Meanwhile, the Samsung event is scheduled to happen in Delhi at 12:30 pm (IST). Samsung will run live stream of the Galaxy Note 8 launch, the company said.

Galaxy Note 8 will launch in India in the second week of September and sales for the flagship device will start towards the end of the month. Samsung has already opened registrations for the Galaxy Note 8 in India. The South Korean company could bring the 64GB and 128GB storage variants of the Note 8 to India. The high-end smartphone might cost upwards of Rs 65,000 for the base variant. In the US, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is priced at $930 (or approx Rs 59,566) for the base version.

Recollecting some key specifications, the Galaxy Note 8 features a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ Infinity display with a screen resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels, 522ppi and 18:5:9 aspect ratio. The phone comes with IP68 certification, which makes it dust and water resistant. The device is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, which is only meant for the US. There is also a variant that comes loaded with company’s in-house Exynos 8895 chipset. The phone is backed by a 6GB of RAM and comes in three storage variants: 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. The storage can be further expanded up to 256GB via micro SD card.

On the camera front, the phone sports a combination of 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and 12-megapixel telephoto lens, with both sporting optical image stabilization (OIS). The wide-angle lens comes with aperture f/1.7, 1.4-micron pixel size, 77-degree field of view. The telephoto lens comes loaded with aperture f/2.4, 2x optical zoom, up to 10x digital zoom. The camera is equipped with different modes including Live focus, food mode, pro mode, panorama and slow motion. For the front, there is an 8-megapixel shooter with autofocus, f/1.7 aperture and wide-angle lens.

The device runs on latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat and is juiced up by a 3300mAh battery with fast charging support on both wired and wireless. On the connectivity front, the device supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, VHT80 MU-MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB Type-C, NFC, MST and hybrid dual-SIM. For security, the company has added iris scanner, facial recognition and fingerprint sensor, which is situated on the back panel.
